HotelLink is an international, multidisciplinary, open access journal aiming at promoting and enhancing research in all fields of hospitality and gastronomy.
It publishes peer-reviewed articles and encourages an interchange between hospitality and gastronomy researchers, educators and professionals and it comprises a multitude of activities which together form one of the world’s fastest growing international sectors. The journal has been published annually since 2003 by the College of Hotel Management, nowadays department of the Academy of Applied Studies Belgrade. The exception to this pattern of publication was in 2018, when a separate Book of Proceedings was published after the HOTELPLAN Congress.
The online version of the previous paper-back journal is published by the Academy of Applied Studies Belgrade – the College of Hotel Management.
AIMS AND SCOPE
The journal takes an interdisciplinary approach and includes planning and policy aspects of international, national and regional hospitality management studies. It also explicitly focuses on the interface of food science and gastronomy. This journal equally encourages both scientists and professionals to publish original scientific papers, review articles and original culinary works. The journal’s contents reflect its integrative approach – including primary research articles, discussion of current issues, case studies, reports, book reviews and forthcoming meetings. It explores all aspects related to the growing field of the interaction of gastronomy and food science, in areas such as food chemistry, food technology and culinary techniques, food microbiology, sensory science, culinary concepts, culinary trends, and gastronomic experience – all the elements that contribute to the appreciation and enjoyment of the meal. Also relevant is research on science-based educational programs in gastronomy, anthropology, gastronomic history and food sociology. All these areas of knowledge are crucial to gastronomy, as they contribute to a better understanding of this broad term and its practical implications for science and society.

In the process of publishing a peer-reviewed article standards of ethical behavior are respected by authors, editors, and reviewers. Editors of HotelLink strongly promote research integrity and aim to prevent any type of scientific misconduct, such as: fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, redundant publication and authorship problems. HotelLink uses double-blind review system for all papers. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two reviewers. The purpose of peer review is to assists the Editorial Board in making decision of whether to accept or reject a paper. The purpose is also to assist the author in improving papers.
Manuscripts are sent for review only if they pass the initial evaluation regarding their form and thematic scope. A special care is taken that the initial evaluation does not last more than necessary.
Under normal circumstances, the review process takes up to four weeks, and only exceptionally up to three months. The total period from the submission of a manuscript until its publication takes an average of 90 days.
The journal is primarily aimed at publishing scientific papers which are subject to double-blind reviews and are categorized as follows: original scientific papers, preliminary communications and reviews. Conference papers, technical papers and book reviews will also be published. The editors reserve the right to return improperly formatted manuscripts to the authors, without double-blind review.
Manuscripts submitted to the journal should be original contributions and should not be under consideration for any other publication at the same time. Authors need to ensure that all of the co-authors contributed to the scientific results and findings to a sufficient extent to be regarded as co-authorship.
Conformance to standards of ethical behavior is expected of all parties involved: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
Plagiarism is the unethical act of copying someone else’s prior ideas, processes, results or words without explicit acknowledgement of the original author and source. Manuscripts found to be plagiarized are out-rightly rejected and not considered for publication in the journal. In case a manuscript is found to be plagiarized after publication it will be retracted.
Retractions are considered by journal editors in cases of evidence of unreliable data or findings, plagiarism, duplicate publication, and unethical research. We may consider an ‘expression of concern’ notice if an article is under investigation. All retraction notices explain why the article was retracted.
